Compatibility Works

Your Life Path is the most influential number in a relationship. It is not the only one, since your other core numbers also play a major role, but it is the best place to start.

    Reduce each person's birth month, day and year separately, add them, and reduce the total. Stop at 11 or 22.

    Masters stay masters

    An 11 or 22 keeps its number. The guide only rates 1 to 9, so an 11 borrows the 2's ratings and a 22 the 4's.

    Compare both sides

    Each Life Path sees a partner in its own way, and the two views are not always the same. We show both and combine them.

How a 1 feels about a 4 is not always how a 4 feels about a 1. That is why your result shows each side, then combines them.

1 and 4

The 1 counts the stable 4 among its most favorable matches. The 4 agrees, but warns the pair can be volatile: solid for years, then a sudden break.

6 and 3

The 6 can build a harmonious relationship with anyone, but the 3 finds the 6 a poor fit. The overall rating lands in the middle: a match that takes work.

Which Life Path numbers are most compatible?

Each Life Path has its own most favorable matches: 1 with 3, 4 and 5; 2 with 8 and 9; 3 with 5 and 7; 4 with 1, 6, 7 and 8; 5 with 1, 3, 5 and 7; 6 with 2 and 9; 7 with 3 and 5; 8 with 2 and 6; 9 with 1, 2, 3 and 6. The 6 is the exception that gets along with almost everyone, and can build a harmonious relationship with any number.

How is Life Path compatibility calculated?

First, find each person's Life Path number from their full date of birth: reduce the month, day and year separately, add them, and reduce again. Then look up how each number relates to the other. Each Life Path sees its partners in its own way, so this calculator shows both sides and combines them into one overall rating.

Is the Life Path the only number that matters in a relationship?

No. Life Path compatibility is the most influential, but not the only indicator. Your other core numbers, such as the Expression, Heart's Desire and Personality numbers from your name, also play a major role.

Can two people with the same Life Path be compatible?

As a rule of thumb, two people with the same Life Path don't usually make the best romantic relationship. The 5 is the exception: two 5s often form a wonderful, passionate partnership. Two 1s tend to be passionate but short-lived, and two 3s are best avoided.

How are master numbers 11 and 22 matched?

A master number stays a master number: your Life Path is still 11 or 22. The compatibility guide only rates the numbers 1 to 9, so an 11 is matched using the ratings for the 2, the number it builds on (the reference book calls the 11 a highly charged version of the 2), and a 22 using the ratings for the 4.

Does a challenging match mean a relationship won't work?

Not necessarily. Many descriptions say what a pair needs rather than ruling it out. For a 1 and an 8, a real willingness to compromise helps a great deal. For a 2 and an 8, staying alert to each other and not letting issues fester can overcome the challenges.

Does Life Path compatibility work for business partners?

The ratings here focus on romance, but some pairs are noted for business too. The 2 and 8, the 6 and 8, and the 4 and 8 make strong business pairs, and a 1 and a 2 usually work better in business than in romance.
