Changes every year
Personal Year
- Birth month + birth day + the year you read
- Always 1 to 9: master numbers are not used
- Shows the stage you have reached in your nine-year cycle
2026 & 2027 numerology
In numerology, life moves in 9-year cycles. Your Personal Year number shows where you are in yours and what this year is for: starting, building, changing, harvesting or letting go. Pick 2026 or 2027 to see your theme.
The basics
Numerology sees each year of your life as one step in a nine-year cycle. A 1 year plants seeds. A 9 year finishes the cycle and clears space for the next one. Each step has its own tone, opportunities and lessons.
Your Personal Year number tells you which step you are on right now. A neat detail: the Personal Year for the year you were born matches your Life Path number (with a master Life Path read as 2 or 4).
The nine steps
Do it yourself
You only need your birthday and the year you want to read.
Reduce your birth month and day to single digits. August is 8; the 23rd is 2 + 3 = 5.
2026: 2 + 0 + 2 + 6 = 10 → 1 + 0 = 1. Numerologists call this the Universal Year.
Add the three numbers and reduce to a single digit from 1 to 9. Master numbers are not kept here.
Worked example
Birthday August 23, in 2026
Result
Personal Year 5
The same birthday in 2027: 8 + 5 + 2 = 15, so Personal Year 6.
When does it start?
Your Personal Year runs from 1 January to 31 December. Its energy builds over the first three months and peaks around September, after which next year's theme starts to be felt. Some numerologists switch on your birthday instead.

Back to the calculatorIt is a number from 1 to 9 that shows the theme of one calendar year for you. In numerology, life moves in 9-year cycles: a 1 year starts something new, and a 9 year finishes and clears space. Your Personal Year tells you which step of the cycle you are on.
Reduce your birth month, your birth day and the year you want to read to single digits, then add them and reduce to 1 to 9. For a birthday of August 23 in 2026: 8 + 5 + 1 = 14, which reduces to 5.
This calculator uses the calendar year, 1 January to 31 December, because the Personal Year is rooted in the Universal Year, which runs January to December. The year's energy builds over the first three months, peaks around September, and after that next year's number starts to be felt. Some numerologists switch your Personal Year on your birthday instead.
No. Master numbers are used for your Life Path and name numbers, but not for Personal Years. The Personal Year follows a simple 1 to 9 cycle, so 11 is read as a 2 and 22 as a 4.
2026 is a Universal 1 Year (2 + 0 + 2 + 6 = 10, reduced to 1). 2027 is a Universal 2 Year. The Universal Year is the same for everyone; adding your birthday turns it into your Personal Year.
A 9 year ends your nine-year cycle. It is a time to finish unfinished business, clear out what you no longer need, pay off old debts and turn your attention to helping others. Your courage may be tested, but the more you let go, the more room there is for the new cycle that starts with a 1 year.
The 8 year is the harvest year. Long-postponed payments and promotions tend to come through, and the reward matches the effort you put in over the previous seven years. It follows the 7 year, a quieter time for reflection, rest and inner growth.
